So Long Winter, We're Springing Forward!

Hello everyone!!! I know it's been a while. It's crazy how we're already mid-way through March--like whoah!! When did January and February happen? To celebrate the imminent transition of season, here's 4 outfits to guide you for spring outfits. Technically Spring Equinox isn't until next Sunday, but it's definitely feeling like spring in SoCal! I don't know about you, but I've been dealing with spring allergies in 80 degrees weather. But that's beside the point. I hope you enjoy this post and maybe you'll find some of my tips helpful!

Off the shoulder blouse: Zara // Floral Drawstring Pants: Polo Ralph Lauren // Sandals: Franco Sarto

Don't tell anyone...but the pants I have on are actually pajama pants that I bought about a month ago on sale. I think it's totally wearable with a plain top. Plus it's comfy!
I'm so strong I can push a tree! Nope, totally kidding.
For this outfit, I thought a black top would be a nice contrast to the red drawstrings. Since there is quite a floral pattern going on, it's better to be simple on the top so the outfit doesn't look like a clutter. As far as accessories, I stacked my usual Seiko watch with an Alex and Ani bracelet and a turquoise stone bangle to complement the turquoise-toned flowers on the pants.
~ Gotta love the City of Trees ~
Black Blazer: Kenzie (Nordstrom) // Magenta Peplum Tank: American Eagle // Boyfriend Jeans: American Eagle // Initial Bar Necklace: Nectar // 3 Triangle Necklace: Forever 21
When it gets slightly chilly, throw on a blazer. It'll do the trick! It is a principle that blazers add sophistication to any casual outfit. I'm not as much of a fan of preppy clothing anymore, but I still like how blazers look on top of a casual combo.

I'm usually not big on buying colorful tops (like magenta) because I prefer neutral colors that match with everything...BUT it's still important to have a bit of variety. When I buy colorful tops, I usually like them simple with a twist. This magenta top, for example, had a peplum bottom half that I really love. It really pops out in this outfit because it contrasts with the black.

How cool is this pattern?! I love how there are two separate patterns that intertwine. This dress was my mom's from many, many years ago. The dress originally has shoulder-pads (yes, that long ago), so I cut them out and turned it into my own midi dress. Being resourceful 101 everybody!!!

Slip Dress: Free People
I usually wear this dress by itself, but I also like how it looks with the boyfriend jeans. I got this dress on sale at Nordstrom for like 60 dollars, so it was a good deal considering it's usually 90. The best part of this slip is that it's extremely light weight and flowy. It's perfect for the spring time! It's also easy to work with, so it would look good if I were to wear it with a cardigan or a sweater.

Weather or Not to Dress Well

DRESSING WARM FOR THE COLD

Woohoo, first post of the year!!! I am pretty excited that it'll be raining the majority of this week; we need the water so bad! Colder weather is the perfect opportunity to get lazy and throw on a pair of sweats, sweatshirt, and sneakers. However, the sweats won't cut it if you actually have to look half decent for a night-out, event, etc. Living in Southern California, it has been a real struggle figuring out how I can put together a cozy and stylish outfit. Especially because I don't own a lot of gear for the cold in the first place, I often times find myself sacrificing warmth for style. I regret it every time; I hate freezing in the cold air and rain! Rachel and Tabitha helped me out this week, and we each put together the kind of outfit we'd wear to look cute and stay warm during the cold weather. I hope the tips help you out a bit if you have somewhere to be this week. Enjoy!
(My ideal way of spending a rainy day=books + tea/coffee + Netflix + journaling + chatting with friends)

TIP #1: Layer up! FLANNEL + SWEATER

TIP #2: Spice it up! Put on dainty, light jewelry

If you don't want to put on a casual scarf for a fancier look, then I'd recommend simple jewelry for the cold. Rachel chose a longer-length necklace for her sweater, while Tabitha chose one close to the neckline. Watches and bracelets are equally great for the cold weather.

TIP #3: BOOTS are necessary. (Wedges are great for dressing up!)

Each of us wore different types of boots. Rachel went with brown booties, Tabitha with black wedges, and I with UGGs. Regardless, they all kept our feet warm! I didn't realize until recently how important it is to keep your feet warm; it makes a HUGE difference!

TIP #4: Wear a coat on top of all your layers!

I only own 2 actual coats because they're expensive and I only use it for a few months out of the entire year. I don't think it's necessary to have very many coats because if you have one that's thick and versatile, you can wear it with practically anything. Isn't Tabitha's Calvin Klein coat adorable? Perfect example of a coat worth investing in!

TIP #5: If wearing a skirt of dress, wear THICK tights, not a thin one!

This is very, very important if you want to wear a skirt or dress in cold weather. If you don't wear thick tights, your legs are going to FREEZE.
In our case, we (as in Diana, Rachel, Tabitha, and myself) went for a girls-night out and ate at a Japanese restaurant on a very chilly day! It was both Rachel and Tabitha's first time trying sushi (I still don't understand how they lived 17 years without trying sushi). We had a fun time, and we didn't have to worry about freezing because we were well-dressed and well-prepared! Gosh, I'm craving the tempura matcha ice cream we had. It was my first time and oh so worth it!

Have a wonderful week and stay safe everyone!!!

Cheers to a Milestone: One Year of legendary, leTRENDary posts

Celebrating Letrendary's 1 Year Anniversary!!!

WOW!!!!!! I cannot believe that we began Letrendary one whole year ago!!! Letrendary has been such a wonderful part of our lives this past year. Despite the time it takes from each of our busy schedules, it has been such a rewarding experience to create content. We send our sincerest "thank you"s to all of our readers around the globe. We endlessly appreciate and love you guys!!! We are ecstatic to take on 2016, and we are challenging ourselves to bring you even greater content this next year. As a token of our gratitude and excitement, Diana has a new Nikon camera, which means the photos from here on out will be of even higher quality!!! Woohoo, go prime lenses!

3 ways to style boyfriend jeans

1. patterned collar + sweater

This is the most simple and classic way to style an outfit with boyfrend jeans. I chose to wear a collared tank with a graph pattern on it just to make the top a little more fun and less bland. It's important to buy sweaters that have the right neckline for a collared shirt. Lots of sweaters don't look good with collared shirts underneath, so make sure to check that.
I wore these brown oxfords to make the overall style a little preppy. I like this look because it's casual and proper. I'd say this outfit reflects one of my fashion styles: casual chic.
Oxfords: Marshalls // Graph Collared Tank: Lush (Nordstrom Rack) // Navy Marble Sweater: Soft by Joie
Chain Link Watch: Kate Spade (Nordstrom)
As you all know, I wore my Seiko watch in nearly every outfit post because it was the only watch I owned. It was handed down from my grandmother, so it means something special to me. The opportunity finally came to buy a second watch, which is this silver Kate Spade watch. I love it because it's clean, but has an edge to it with the linked chain on the side. I bought it on sale for about a $100, which is pricy but not unreasonable. To me, it was worth the investment because I wear a watch everyday. Also, watches don't wear out like shoes, so this is something I can keep for many, many years.

2. cardigan + scarf + hat

I came up with look by pairing clothes with colors that I thought complemented each other. I love this hat that I bought on sale at Nordstrom for about $10!!! I have great luck when shopping online haha. I wore a longer cardigan and a peacoat, which could be thrown on whenever it is chillier.
Ripped Boyfriend Jeans: American Eagle// Bow Flats: Halogen (Nordstrom)
Navy Hat: D&Y (Nordstrom)// Scarf: Nordstrom// Grey Peacoat: Thread & Supply (Nordstrom)

3. sparkles + earrings
I've always imaged what it would be like to wear an outfit like this and it finally happened! Such excitement hehe. I've had this sequined cardigan for a year, but I still haven't had an opportunity to wear it anywhere. I bought it on sale for about $30. I chose to wear a basic black tank so that that the sequins can do all the talking.
Sequin Cardigan: Abercrombie// Crystal Dangling Earrings: Urban Outfitters
I bought these earrings on sale at Urban Outfitters for $14. I love them!!!

Diana and I are currently completing our final year of high school, which means we will be going separate paths starting next August. Therefore, Letrendary will go through a transition, but we are excited nonetheless.

We'd like to thank you again for reading and supporting because we love what we do and Letrendary is definitely one of our greatest creative outlets. Happiest of holidays to you and your family! And yes, we have #doroana4eva shirts. Much love to you all!!!
